Spartan Shorts: The reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's and women's champions have past regional meet individual successes on their side going into the weekend. For the men's program which is just two seasons removed from a run of three straight national championship appearances, senior Connor Bresnahan (Portage, Mich.) earned all-region honors last season by placing 29th, while fellow senior Alex Gudeman (Rochester, Ind.) reeled off a pair of top 60 regional finishes as a freshman and sophomore. The women's team features senior Mariah Jordan (Fort Wayne, Ind.) who is a two-time all-region honoree and competed in the 2015 national meet to lead the way. Tiffany Harber (Columbia City, Ind.), also a member of the program's Class of 2017, turned in a top 50 regional placing as a junior; and junior Shelby Harrell (Plymouth, Ind.) placed just outside the regional championships' top 100 as a sophomore … MU's women spent four weeks on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Great Lakes poll, including the final listing at No. 10.
