Game details: Scheduled first pitch times are 2 p.m. Saturday for a single nine-inning game and 1 p.m. Sunday for a doubleheader … Live statistics can be accessed via a link at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics … The Spartans go into the set looking to turn around early-season fortunes which have them standing 0-4, while the Tigers are out to a 5-1 start … Recent series history has been on the side of the Spartans, as they've claimed four of the last five against the North Coast Athletic Conference member.

Spartan Shorts: A busy section of four games in six days started Tuesday for Coach Rick Espeset's squad. Five players ended with multiple-hit efforts to lead the way in a 19-7 defeat against perennial Crossroads League National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' power Taylor University. Sophomore catcher Matt Pritz (LaPorte, Ind.) continued his impressive offensive output in the early season clouting a two-run double in the second as part of a two-for-two afternoon, with both being two-baggers, which saw his average rise to a team-leading and meteoric .571. Senior first baseman Tailur Szarenski (Bluffton, Ind.) and freshman second baseman Nick Rush (Terre Haute, Ind.) each clobbered three hits, while junior designated hitter Alec Trzeciak (Charlotte, Mich.) and junior outfielder Eric Knepper (Bremen, Ind.) tallied two hits along with Pritz as Trzeciak tripled and Knepper launched his first home run of the year and the 12th of his career to add to the Black and Gold's stockpile of six extra base safeties. The Black and Gold tried to rally back from a 10-run blitzkrieg by the host Trojans in the home half of the opening frame. They closed the margin to 14-6 after plating three runs in the seventh but couldn't get any closer… Trzeciak has hit safely in all four contests in route to a .429 batting average which is second-highest on the Spartans' statistics. Szarenski has reached base in five consecutive games dating back to the final 2016 outing … Looking further on the Manchester University schedule, the Black and Gold is scheduled to host Otterbein University Wednesday, March 15, for a 4:15 p.m. first pitch at Gratz Field. After the single game against the Cardinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference, the team faces four in a row on the road, traveling to Heidelberg University Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19, and concluding a home-and-away set at Otterbein Wednesday, March 22.
