NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – A fourth double-digit save total for junior goalkeeper Cami Holford (Valparaiso, Ind.) kept Manchester University within range of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Anderson University Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Holford, posting 11 saves in the midst of a 30-6 shots advantage for the visiting Ravens at Good Field, was nicked early by the hard-charging AU offense by two scores in the first 10 and a half minutes. However, she and the defensive back line stiffened until the latter stages of the second half, while senior midfielder Courtney Hersick (Plymouth, Ind.) and freshman defender/midfielder Gwendolyn Fourman (South Bend, Ind.) managed to rattle the opposing net to the tune of three shots on goal that were each averted by visiting net minder Allyson Saylor.
Anderson University managed a second break through of two goals beginning in the 64th minute and ending in the 80th minute to extend their lead to 4-0 which turned out to be the final. Hersick's four total and two shots on goal topped the Black and Gold offense.
MU (0-10 overall, 0-2 HCAC) takes to the road Saturday, Oct. 7, for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Rose-Hulman.
