ADA, Ohio – The Manchester University men's basketball team was defeated on the road at Ohio Northern by a final score of 73-66 on Saturday December 21.
Ohio Northern used a 14-0 run late in the first half to gain control of Saturday's contest. Trailing by as much as 17 points in the second half, Manchester was able to claw back to within seven points with just under three minutes to play. The Polar Bear defense was able to halt MU's comeback to secure the seven-point victory.
CJ Hampton (Hammond, Ind./Griffith) led the Spartans with 17 points and a career-best six steals. DeMoines Whitney (Detroit, Mich./Western International) finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Matthew Westman (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) chipped in 12 points off the bench.
Ohio Northern drained 10 three-pointers and got 22 points from Thomas Phillips. Landen Long and Brandon Waugh scored 16 and 13 points for Ohio Northern.
Manchester (3-7) will be off for the Holiday Break and will return to action on Friday January 3 against Mount St. Joseph. The Spartans' matchup against the Lions will begin at 7 p.m. in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
