TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Manchester University men's tennis team concluded its season on Tuesday, April 25 in the Quarterfinal Round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
The Spartans fell 9-0 to the Fightin' Engineers.
In doubles play, the no. 1 pair of
Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind., South Putnam) and
Reece Romer (LaGrange, Ind., Lakeland) fell 8-0. The no. 2 pair of
Brennan Beachy (Goshen, Ind., Westview) and
Braydon Hoggatt (Union City, Ind., Union City) were defeated by the same score.
Omar Lemus (Portage, Ind., Portage) and
Aiden Richardson (Knightstown, Knightstown) fell 8-1 to round out doubles play.
Singles play began with
Arnold, who fell to his opponent Owen Reynolds 6-0, 6-0.
Romers fell 6-1, 6-0 to his opponent at no. 2 singles. At no. 3 singles,
Beachy fell 6-0, 6-2.
Hoggatt had to withdraw at the no. 4 spot.
Richardson dropped his match 6-1, 6-1 at the no. 5 flight. Rounding out the lineup at no. 6 singles,
Lemus fell 6-1, 6-3 in his match.
The Spartans finished the season with an overall record of 2-16, 1-5 HCAC.
