JOLIET, Ill. - A select group of Manchester University outdoor track & field athletes turned in strong performances at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invitational on May 12 - 13.
Brooke Bouwens (Lake Odessa, Mich., Lakewood) finished the 400m hurdles in fifth place with a time 1:04.29.
Bouwens' time ranks third all-time in school history.
Hannah Brubaker (Goshen, Ind., NorthWood)ran a new personal best in the 5,000m. Brubaker finished the race in a time of 18:20.61, putting her eighth all-time in Manchester history.
On the men's side,
Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind., Plymouth) took first in the men's 1,500m in a time of 3:53.70, breaking the Manchester school record previously held by Salazar by .04 seconds.
Gabe Melvin (Jacksonville, Fla., Atlantic Coast) set a new PR in the 200m with a time of 21.87 seconds, putting him fourth all-time in Manchester history.
Connor Havens (LaPorte, Ind., LaPorte) improved his mark in the 5,000m, finishing the race in a time of 14:46.30. His time moves him up to second on the all-time Manchester top 10 list.
