Coach Eric Christiansen's Spartans held a 2-1 lead on perennial HCAC league power Transylvania after doubles. However, the Pioneers, improving to 3-0 overall and in league play, rallied with five wins in six singles' attempts for the 6-3 victory.

Senior Alli Heeter (Nappanee, Ind.) and junior Ashley McClintic (Wakarusa, Ind.), improving to 3-0 on the season, took a victory at number two doubles, and junior Abby Berry (Huntington, Ind.) and freshman Megan Buckner (Muncie, Ind.) claimed the number three doubles' match. Heeter also ran her individual singles' record to 3-0 with a straight sets' win at number three. Berry narrowly missed a win at number five, falling in a tiebreaker.

Manchester begins a two-dual week Wednesday, Sept. 19, with a 4 p.m. match at Defiance College of Ohio.
