The host Spartans, improving to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, won two of three doubles' contests and five of six in singles' action. Highlighting the victory were senior Alli Heeter (Nappanee, Ind.), who moved her singles' mark to 4-0 with a straight sets' decision at number two, and the Black and Gold improving to 11-4 in doubles' competition. Heeter and junior teammate Ashley McClintic (Wakarusa, Ind.) upped their season doubles' record to 4-0.
Coach Eric Christiansen's squad looks to continue its recent winning ways when Bluffton University of Ohio visits Manchester University's outdoor courts for a 4 p.m. HCAC dual Wednesday, Sept. 26. The clash with the Beavers opens a stretch of three duals in four days for the Spartans.
NOTES: Other highlights in the Earlham dual went to junior Abby Berry (Huntington, Ind.) who moved over .500 in singles play (3-2) and the doubles' combination of juniors Kara Gilley (Plymouth, Ind.) and Brandy Leeper (Bremen, Ind.) who also went above .500 for the season with their third win in five matches.
