Box Score RICHMOND, IND. – Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) registered double-figure kills for a sixth straight match, leading Manchester University a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win Saturday, Oct. 18.
Chowning pounded 13 kills and a .290 attack percentage at the host Quakers' defense. She was one of many to get in on the act for the Black and Gold (5-19, 1-5 HCAC).
Junior outside hitter Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind.) gave the home team fits on the other side with eight kills and no errors in 27 attempts, good for a .290 attack percentage. Looking further into MU's statistics, freshman defensive specialist Megan Robbins (Connersville, Ind.) tallied 20 digs; junior middle hitter Morgan Pavelka (Noblesville, Ind.) fired up four service aces; junior setter Mikayla Munn (Elkhart, Ind.) turned in 28 assists, a service ace, 10 digs and two kills during a .500 attack percentage effort; and junior middle hitter Devin Clark (Madison, Ind.) tallied four blocks, two assists and three digs.
Manchester University continues conference play Wednesday, Oct. 22. First serve at Bluffton University of Ohio is 7 p.m.
NOTES: The win snapped an eight-match skid … Munn reached the 800-assist mark for the season. It's the top single-season effort for a Spartans' player since Lauren Nash recorded 897 in 2010.
