MU upended in HCAC road contest

ANDERSON, IND. – Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) and junior outside hitter Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind.) each delivered nine kills, leading Manchester University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Anderson University Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Chowning's nine successful attacks were added to a team-high 14 digs and two blocks, one of which was solo. Pruden's similar total was part of a squad-leading .222 attack percentage.

The host Ravens (10-17 overall, 3-5 HCAC) got out of the gate quickly inside their home O.C. Lewis Gymnasium, acquiring 25-22 and 25-18 set wins. MU (5-21 overall, 1-7 HCAC) tried to surmount a comeback in the third set battling their hosts tooth and nail until AU picked up a wild 30-28 decision for the sweep.

The Black and Gold wrap up their 2014 campaign Saturday, Nov. 1. Rose-Hulman visits Stauffer-Wolfe Arena for a 1 p.m. first serve as part of Senior Day festivities.

NOTES: Chowning's kill total moved her over 300 for the season. She's the first Manchester University player to do so since 2012 … Junior setter Mikayla Munn (Elkhart, Ind.) turned in 25 assists for her eighth successive 20-plus assist contest … Junior middle hitter Devin Clark (Madison, Ind.) was tough on net defense. Clark blocked seven AU attack attempts. She's had at least one in eight straight matches with five-or-more twice in the span.
