NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Junior outside hitter Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind.) and sophomore outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) each wrapped up the 2014 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference – Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Crossover with impressive totals Saturday, Aug. 30.

Chowning hammered a team-high 43 kills and added MU bests in service aces (eight) and digs (36) during the four-match weekend. Pruden, who represented the Black and Gold on the all-tournament squad, finished with 42 kills and a team-high .198 attack percentage. Fellow junior Devin Clark, a native of Madison, Ind., wound up with 25 kills and six blocks which was tops for the home side.

Manchester University closed the two-day event at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena with an 0-4 record. Kalamazoo College and Trine University, who shared the team championship, each toppled the Spartans in three sets Saturday.

MU continues a stretch of three successive weekend tournaments Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6. They travel to Fredericksburg, Va., for the University of Mary Washington Invitational.
