Box Score

GARY, IND. – A .287 team attack percentage, coupled with 12 service aces, helped Manchester University roll up a sweep of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' opponent Indiana University – Northwest Tuesday, Sept. 16.

MU (3-10) trailed early to the RedHawks (0-13) during the first two sets inside the Savannah Center on IU-Northwest's campus but managed to piece together strong rallies to take commanding leads in both cases. The third set saw Coach Bryndon Paulsen's squad score seven of the first eight points en route to wrapping up the 25-13, 25-16, 25-15 victory which was the Black and Gold's third in its last five matches.

Junior middle hitter Morgan Pavelka (Noblesville, Ind.), continuing an individual stretch in which she's registered attack percentages of .400 or higher in four of the last five outings, proved her Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award earned a day before. She finished with 12 kills and only one error in 16 attempts (.688) to go with two assists, two service aces and one block assist. Junior outside hitter and fellow Noblesville native Sarah Pruden turned in eight kills and a .375 attack percentage, while senior right side hitter Mallory Kirkwood (Greenfield, Ind.) added four service aces, sophomore outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) led the way with 11 digs, and junior setter Mikayla Munn (Elkhart, Ind.) compiled 22 assists.

The Spartans continue a brief three-match road swing with a triangular at Oberlin College of Ohio Saturday, Sept. 20. They face American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III No. 19-ranked DePauw University at 1 p.m. and the host Yeowomen at 3 p.m. at OC's Man Gym.

NOTES: Munn has reeled off 20-or-more assists in seven successive matches … Pavelka has put up the top two individual-best attack percentages of the season in back-to-back contests (.550 vs. Wlmington College of Ohio Sept. 13 prior to IU-Northwest match).
