Black and Gold wrap up busy week

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University took Hanover College to close-knit decisions in all three doubles matches, highlighting a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference dual Saturday, Sept. 27.

The top doubles' pairing of freshmen Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) and Katy Ashpole (Leesburg, Ind.) just missed a victory, falling 8-6. The number two pair of junior Megan Buckner (Muncie, Ind.) and freshman Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.) and the three squad of freshman Alisha Paddock (Alexandria, Ind.) and sophomore Alaina Beckner (Columbia City, Ind.) each earned four-or-more game wins, too.

Hanover (4-2 overall, 4-0 HCAC) swept through singles' competition after the doubles' battles, winning each in straight sets en route to the 9-0 victory. Manchester University fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

The Spartans resume conference dual play Saturday, Oct. 4, traveling to Transylvania University of Kentucky.
