NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – An 8-1 final in the annual dual clash between Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rivals Anderson University and Manchester University didn't tell the whole story Wednesday, Oct. 7.

The Spartans (2-6 overall, 2-4 HCAC), despite getting a lone team point from the doubles combination of sophomore Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.) and senior Megan Buckner (Muncie, Ind.), gave the visiting Ravens (7-3 overall, 5-1 HCAC) a strong battle. A tiebreaker decision was the only thing separating the two sides' number one doubles, as AU's Ashlan Millikan and Michaela Hurd held off the sophomore duo of Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) and Katy Ashpole (Leesburg, Ind.) 9-8, while Buckner turned in a strong bid to claim a doubles and singles win during Senior Day 2015 festivities, taking her opponent to a third set at No. 4 singles.

MU travels to Mt. St. Joseph University of Ohio for a 10 a.m. conference dual Saturday, Oct. 10. School officials from Transylvania and Manchester University are still trying to work out a potential finish to the suspended match between the Spartans and Pioneers from Oct. 3.
