NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Straight-set wins at each turn in singles play sent Manchester University past Earlham College 9-0 in the 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both schools Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Spartans, leveling their overall record at 1-1, picked up two perfect victories. Sophomore number one player Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) and junior number six player Alaina Beckner (Columbia City, Ind.) each dispatched their opponents 6-0, 6-0. The middle of the singles line-up with sophomore Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.) and senior Megan Buckner (Muncie, Ind.) playing at numbers three and four didn't miss joining their teammates by much, as Peden allowed only two game wins, and Buckner surrendered only one. MU's doubles trio added to the day, dropping only a combined four games to help conclude the sweep.

MU resumes HCAC dual play Wednesday, Sept. 16, traveling to Defiance College of Ohio for a 1:30 p.m. first serve.
