HANOVER, IND. – Evening their season record at 3-3, sophomores Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) and Katy Ashpole (Leesburg, Ind.) combined to pick up a win at number one doubles for Manchester University Saturday, Sept. 26.

Cordill and Ashpole claimed a thriller from the Panthers' top doubles duo of Tori Schwartz and Mackenzie Spicer, winning 9-7. MU (2-4 overall, 2-3 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) was on the verge of more points, falling only 8-5 at number two doubles behind senior Megan Buckner (Muncie, Ind.) and sophomore Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.), and Peden pushed her opponent at number two singles to a superbreaker.

Hanover's 8-1 decision concluded a run of five straight league duals for the Spartans. Manchester University opens a stretch of four successive home matches Thursday, Oct. 1, when St. Francis University of Fort Wayne, Ind., comes to MU's outdoor courts for a 4 p.m. first serve.
