Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ADRIAN, MICH. – Fueled by more impressive attacking numbers from the trio of junior outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.), senior outside hitter Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman middle hitter Hannah Tevis (Royal Center, Ind.), Manchester University managed a pair of thrilling five-set victories to wrap up play at the 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference – Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Crossover Saturday, Sept. 5.

Chowning had the most sparkling afternoon at Adrian College's Merillat Sports Complex gymnasium. After hammering 12 kills at Kalamazoo College's defense in a come-from-behind Spartans' win, she came back with a remarkable 30 kills in 68 attempts with just 13 errors to hit .250 and guide MU to a five-set victory over the host Bulldogs. The junior and AC's Olivia Welch were on an amazing head-to-head duel in the challenge's final session, as Welch finished with 25 kills and a stratospheric .408 attack percentage.

Pruden was next in line with back-to-back double-digit kill efforts as part of a 22-kill, 31-dig outing, while Tevis led the attack against Kalamazoo with 13 kills and a .360 attack percentage to highlight her afternoon. Freshman setter Dakota Stanichuk (Troy, Mich.) played a key role in the group's front line numbers, running her current string of matches with 20-or-more assists to four which included 55 against Adrian. She also registered a team-high six ace serves, while Tevis turned in the blocks' lead (seven), and Chowning contributed a squad-leading 37 digs.

Manchester University resumes a set of three successive weekend tournaments Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11 and 12, at the North Park University of Illinois Challenge. The Spartans take on North Central College of Illinois and Alverno College of Wisconsin Friday and Nebraska Wesleyan University and the host Vikings Saturday.
