WINONA LAKE, IND. – The junior singles' tandem of Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) and Katy Ashpole (Leesburg, Ind.) pushed their Grace College opponents to the wire, highlighting a non-conference clash Monday, Sept. 5.

Cordill, battling the Lancers' Natalia Kurkova, claimed the first set 7-5 at number one before Kurkova rallied back for a 6-1 second set victory. The match went back and forth in the superbreak before Kurkova finally hung on for a 10-6 decision. Ashpole responded to a 6-2 first set loss to Molly Kirkpatrick with a 6-4 decision in the second set, forcing a superbreak at number four. Kirkpatrick came back for the match win with a 10-4 final.

The hosts rolled through the remaining singles' competitions and doubles to earn a 9-0 dual victory. Manchester University continues a three-dual schedule this week Thursday, Sept. 8, when they travel to Mishawaka, Ind., for a 3 p.m. first serve against Bethel College.
