Box Score 2 NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - Manchester University hosted Bluffton University on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. The visiting Beavers took both matches on Sunday, winning the first match in straight sets, while capturing the second match in four sets.
Match 1 – Bluffton Won 3-0, 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 – Box Score
* Bluffton was paced by the strong play of Remi Bower in the first match on Sunday. Bower led Bluffton with 14 kills on the strength of a .367 hitting percentage.
* Manchester was led by Joy Maze's (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood Community) 11 kills and two service aces. Maze also had six digs.
* Helaina Walters (Marion, Ind./Eastbrook) collected 10 digs and finished with eight kills in the first match.
* Alexandria Collins (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) led the Black & Gold with 15 assists.
* Manchester was limited to a .020 hitting percentage in the first match on Sunday.
Match 2 – Bluffton Won 3-1, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-14 – Box Score
* After narrowly dropping the first set, the Spartans won the second set 25-20 to even the second match on Sunday 1-1.
* The Beavers rallied from a six-point deficit in the third set to firmly seize control of the momentum in the second match, taking the third frame by a tally of 25-22.
* Joy Maze and Halle Planck (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) led MU with 10 kills.
* Dori Bammer (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) collected 20 digs.
* Helaina Walters finished with 19 digs and nine kills.
* Senior Lauren Gandhi (Westfield, Ind./Guerin Catholic) finished the second match with a a match-high 21 assists. Gandhi also recorded 11 digs.
* Freshman Megan Huys (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) chipped in 16 assists and eight digs.
Manchester University concludes it shortened fall season with a record of 1-5. The Beavers improved to 5-0 this fall.
