NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed at home this weekend at the Strauss-Peabody Aquatic Center. Teams among the competition were Olivet College, Urbana, and Anderson University.
On the women's side, Shelby Kell (Morristown, Ind./Eastern Hancock) led the way for the Spartans, earning an event win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.47. She also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a 26.60 time. Katie Blystone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Mackenzie Hoover finished second and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:09.66 and 1:11.29, respectively.
The women's 400 yard freestyle relay team posted a time of 4:07.05, good for a second-place finish. The relay team consisted of Kell, Hoover, Blystone, and Maria Wells (Connersville, Ind./Connersville).
The women topped Urbana 85-68 in the head-to-head scoring, marking the second head-to-head win of the season for women.
On the men's side, senior Christain Poole (Anderson, Ind./Anderson) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.01. He placed third in both the 50-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard butterfly, clocking times of 31.37 and 57.21.
The Spartans will be back in action on February 13 for the HCAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Vigo County Aquatics Center.
