As Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play resumed, the Spartans fell in straight sets to host Roe-Hulman Institute of Technology, 25-20, 25-20, 25-17.
Shaking off the rust from the long layoff and reestablishing a rhythm will certainly take more than one match.
Samantha Campbell (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) led Manchester with seven kills and five block assists. Alexandria Collins (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) reached double figures in assists with 10. Collins added nine digs and a pair of service aces. Rachel Ressler (Tipton, Ind./Tipton) added nine digs and a pair of service aces.
Manchester (1-6, 0-1 HCAC) will travel to Defiance College on Wednesday, January 27, for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Rose-Hulman (1-0, 1-0 HCAC) is scheduled to play at Franklin College on Wednesday, January 27.
