NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University men's soccer team honored its senior class following Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest against Transylvania University. The Spartans recognized
Drew Gavit, JohnVelasquez, Keegan Wondergem, Phillip Clesceri, Sean Jullian, and
Jared Wayne in an on-field ceremony at Good Field.
Prior to Saturday's ceremony, the Spartans battled the Transylvania Pioneers. The Black and Gold fell just short against the Pioneers, dropping a narrow 2-1 decision.
Transylvania struck first in the 13
th minute with a goal by Mitchell Crispin.
The Spartans equalized in the 23
rd minute when
Harley Kruschwitz (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) found the back of the net for the 14
th time this fall.
Elliott Mozingo (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) assisted on the Spartans' lone goal of the game.
Transylvania regained the lead in the 32
nd minute following a goal by Max Nusbacher.
Ruben Gonzalez (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) led the Black and Gold with 3 shots on the day, while
Aidan Brunkow (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) added 5 saves in goal.
The Spartans will end regular season play at home against Bluffton on Wednesday October 27. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Spartan Stadium. The Spartans will look to make a final push towards securing a spot in the HCAC Tournament.
