LA VERNE, Calif. – The Manchester University women's basketball team opened its three-game West Coast trip today at the University of La Verne in Southern California. The Leopards rode a strong rebounding effort while also converting 28 Manchester turnovers into 40 points in a 113-59 victory. La Verne held a 55-34 advantage on the boards.
Miranda Bieghler (Plainfield, Ind./South Putnam) led the Spartans with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Abby Walker (Oswego, Ill./Cloverdale) added 11 points off the bench.
Macy Miller (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) chipped in 8t points and 6 rebounds, while both
Hillery Shepherd (Middletown, Ind./Shenandoah) and
Eva Bazzoni (Wabash, Ind./North Manchester) scored 6 points.
The Leopards made 14 three-pointers in the contest. La Verne finished 40-85 shooting for the contest – good for 47.1 percent. The Spartans were limited to 18-50 shooting (36 percent) on Sunday.
The Spartans (5-3) will be off tomorrow before playing at Whittier College on Tuesday December 21. Gametime against the Poets is scheduled for 4 pm ET (1 pm local time).
La Verne (7-3) won for the fourth straight outing. The Leopards will host Life Pacific on Tuesday December 21 at 2 pm local time.
