NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University men's soccer team blew past visiting Greenville University by a final score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Good Field.
The Spartans scored in the 5th minute as Cory Mitchell (Maitland, Fla./Winter Park) fired a free kick from 30 yards past the Panther goalkeeper.
Later in the 23rd minute, Elliott Mozingo (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) played an excellent through ball ahead to Harley Kruschwitz (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) who scored for the second consecutive game.
Late first half sub Mason Douglas (Howe, Ind./Lakeland) would put the Spartans ahead 3-0 with his first collegiate goal in the 39th minute. Julian Keough (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) earned the assist on the Douglas goal.
Greenville tallied its only goal of the match in the 45th minute.
Manchester goalie Aidan Brunkow (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) earned the win in between the posts for Manchester. He made 8 saves in the game.
The win was the first of the season for the Black & Gold. Saturday's triumph also marked the first career coaching victory for head coach Chad Brooks.
The Spartans will return to action on Saturday September 18 against Olivet College.
