DEFIANCE, OH – The Manchester University women's volleyball team clinched their first conference win in HCAC play of the season Wednesday night against Defiance. The Spartans won in four sets to move to 1-4 in conference play this fall. The Black and Gold took Wednesday's match by set scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14. Â
Joy Maze (Greenwood, Ind., Greenwood Community) led the Manchester offense with 18 kills and .317 swinging percentage. Avery Ball (Decatur, Ind., Belmont) and Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) also reached double figure in kills with 12. Ball also added two blocks and three aces. Reese Czarniecki (Chesterton, Ind., Chesterton) had 3 blocks, Rachael Ressler (Tipton, Ind., Tipton) had 17 digs and Jessica Tarr (Fort Wayne, Ind., Snider) added 18 assists on the night. Â
Defiance hit just .030 in Wednesday's match. Kaylynn Wellman put up seven kills for the Yellow Jackets while Kendra Kline led Defiance in both digs (13) and assists (16).Â
Manchester is now 11-13 on the season and will travel to Puerto Rico for a two-game series Friday and Saturday night. Both matches will start at 7:00 p.m. Â
Defiance fell to 3-14 overall, 0-3 HCAC following the loss. Â
