TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Manchester University men's soccer team traveled to Rose-Hulman for the Semifinal round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday, November 2nd. The Spartans lost to the Fightin' Engineers 1-0.
Rose-Hulman entered the match ranked number one in the conference after finishing the regular season 8-0-1 in HCAC play. AJ Yilmaz scored the lone goal of the night for the Fightin' Engineers in the 28th minute of play. Caleb Urban would lead Rose-Hulman with four shots on goal.
Manchester entered Wednesday's match after winning during the opening round of the HCAC Tournament against the Bluffton Beavers 1-0. During the Semifinals of the tournament, the Spartans were outshot by the Fightin' Engineers 17-5. Senior midfielder Ruben Gonzalez (Sylvania, Ohio, Sylvania Northview) led the Black and Gold with three shots and one shot on goal. Aaron Ketchmark (Kouts, Ind., Kouts) racked up seven saves in goal for MU.
Manchester concluded the year with an overall record of 6-8-5. Rose-Hulman (13-1-3) will host the HCAC Tournament title game. They will play the number two ranked Hanover College Panthers on Saturday, November 5th.
