LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Manchester University women's basketball team concluded the 2021-22 season on Sunday afternoon with a trip to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
The Spartans were selected to replace Mt. St. Joseph as the no. 8 seed after the Lions withdrew from the tournament earlier in the weekend. Manchester traveled to top seeded and nationally-ranked Transylvania University for its quarterfinal matchup.
The undefeated Pioneers enter the postseason with an unblemished 21-0 record and are currently ranked no. 4 in the latest d3hoops.com Top 25 Poll and no. 2 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll.
Transy improved to 22-0 after overwhelming the Spartans 90-44 on Sunday.
The top seeded Pioneers shot 32-65 on Sunday afternoon – good for 49.2 percent. The Pioneers buried 14 three-pointers while also converting 30 Manchester turnovers into 40 points.
Manchester was limited to 15-52 shooting (28.8 percent) in its season finale.
Macy Miller (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) tallied 11 points in her final collegiate game.
Miranda Bieghler (Plainfield, Ind./South Putnam) added 10 points and seven rebounds in her final collegiate game.
The Spartans concluded the 2021-22 season with a record of 8-15.
Transylvania (22-0) will host no. 4 seed Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the HCAC Semifinals on Friday February 25.
