Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spartans Turned Away by Mt. St. Joseph

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Host Mt. St. Joseph University rolled past the Manchester Spartans in men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon inside of the Harrington Center. The Lions led by as many as 34 points in the opening frame before cruising to a 97-41 victory.

The Lions' offense was tough to slow on Saturday afternoon – MSJ shot 54.5 percent (36-66) in the game, including 51.5 percent (17-33) in the opening half. The Lions were also lethal from distancing, connecting on 14-of-29 three-point attempts (48.3 percent).

The Spartans were ice-cold to begin Saturday's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup, shooting just 5-28 from the field (17.9 percent) and shooting just 1-14 from three-point range in the opening half.  Not much changed in the second period as the Spartans finished Saturday' game shooting 21.7 percent (13-60). The Spartans were also limited to just 4-31 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

Manchester (8-12, 7-6 HCAC) will have a quick turnaround ahead of its next contest. The Spartans will host Defiance College inside of Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on Monday February 7 at 7:30 p.m. Monday's contest is a makeup from Wednesday's weather (February 3) postponement.

Mount St. Joseph improved to 9-11, 5-8 HCAC with the win.
