CARMEL, Ind. – For the fourth time this year and for the second time this outdoor season, Manchester University junior
Enrique Salazar has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Monday April 25.
Salazar (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) set yet another school record this past weekend at Ohio Northern, this time in the 1500m. Salazar's time of 3:53.86 broke Tom Lower's record – a record which had stood for more than 40 years (1980). Salazar's time was also a new meet and facility record at Ohio Northern. The previous facility record had stood since 1991 (Jeff Prowles of Mount Union, 3:58.39).
Salazar garnered HCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week previously on April 4 (Outdoor), March 7, and February 2 (Indoor).
The 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships are scheduled to begin on Friday April 29 and conclude on Saturday April 30. This year's championships will be hosted at Hanover College.
