FLORENCE, Ky. – Playing at UC Health Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Manchester University baseball team played to doubleheader split against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mt. St. Joseph University.
The Black & Gold took the opening game of Saturday's twin bill by a final score of 9-6. The Lions rallied for an 8-7 victory in the second game of the day.
Spartan Stats
- Carter Hooks (Rochester, Ind./Rochester) and Austin Kresl (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) combined for the win and save on the mound in Saturday's opener for the Spartans. Hooks threw 5 and 2/3 innings while Kresl was sharp out of the bullpen, throwing 3 and 1/3 innings of four-hit ball. Kresl allowed just one run en route to his second save of the season. Hooks' win was his fourth of the year.
- Manchester collected 15 hits in Game 1 with Zach White (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) leading the way with three hits. Both White and Mitchell Baker (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) scored twice.
- Jared Holley (Wabash, Ind./Wabash) drove in three runs while Rocco Hanes (Ossian, Ind./Norwell) added two RBI. Holley collected his first collegiate triple on Saturday.
- In the second game of the day, the Lions were able to overcome 7-1 deficit to earn the twin bill split.
- Manchester once again reached double figures in hits with 13. Rocco Hanes went 4-5 in Game 2 with an RBI and three runs scored. Hanes is hitting a team-best .410 this season.
- Harrison Pittsford (Ellettsville, Ind./Edgewood) went 3-4 in Game 2 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Vian Mariani (South Bend, Ind./Adams) also added two RBI for the Spartans.

- Only two HCAC doubleheaders remain on the Spartans' schedule this spring. Manchester will host rival Anderson University at Gratz Field on Tuesday May 2 at 1 pm before hosting Earlham College on Saturday May 7 at 12 pm.
