Spartan Tennis Takes on Hanover & Adrian

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 N. MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester women's tennis team played host to a 3-way match on Saturday with Hanover and Adrian.
In the first match, the Spartans opened conference play for the year with a 2-7 loss to the visiting Panthers. MU did claim two victories in singles action. Eva Bazzoni (Wabash, Ind., Manchester) secured a tight 3-set win at the second flight with a score of 6-2, 5-7, [10-5], while Evelyn Minton (Clarksville, Ind., Jeffersonville) had an easier 6-1, 6-2 win at 3 singles.
In the afternoon match, the Spartans fell to the Bulldogs of Adrian College 2-7. Manchester's 1 doubles team of Bazzoni and Minton picked up the first team point when the Bulldogs had to retire with injury at 2-1 in the set. The injury also gave the Spartans a point for the walkover win at 1 singles.
The Spartans travel to Terre Haute, Ind. on Wednesday to face Rose-Human in conference play with a 4 pm start time.

Following the action from the women's team, the men hosted the Bulldogs from Adrian College on Saturday in non-conference action. The men competed well, but ultimately fell 1-8. First-year Brennan Beachy (Goshen, Ind., Westview) claimed the lone victory for the Spartans, fighting back from a set down to claim the win in a match tiebreak, 1-6, 6-2, [10-8] at the second flight. The Spartans host visiting Bethel College on Wednesday, September 21^st with a 4 pm start time.
