NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University women's soccer team dropped a narrow 2-1 decision against Franklin College on Wednesday, October 4.
In the 7th minute, Maddison Claybrooke scored her second goal of the season, putting the Grizzlies on the scoreboard with a 1-0 lead. Franklin then scored again in the 29th minute, extending their lead to two points before halftime.
First-year
Ruth Windeler (Grand Blanc, Mich., Goodrich) netted her first collegiate career goal in the 45th minute to bring the Spartans within one to start the second half of play. Franklin would hang on to win by a final score of 2-1.
The Grizzlies held a 12-3 advantage in shots taken during Wednesday's match.
Windeler and
Grace Papazoglou (Commack, NY., Commack) each had a shot on goal for the Black and Gold.
Madilyn VanDerWeele (Tippecanoe, Ind., Argos) collected six saves in goal for MU.
Up next, the Spartans will travel to Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. on Saturday, October 7 for a 1:00 p.m. with the Panthers.
