Manchester Takes on #14 Mount St. Joseph in HCAC Semifinals on Saturday

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University women's volleyball team will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for the 2023 HCAC Volleyball Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, November 11. The Spartans will face the nationally ranked Mount St. Joseph Lions on their home court at at 2:00 p.m. With a win, the Black and Gold will advance to the HCAC Championship on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

    • Game 1: No. 6 Rose-Hulman 3, No. 3 Hanover 1
    • Game 2: No. 4 Manchester 3, No. 5 Earlham 0
  • Saturday, November 11 | Semifinals hosted at Mount St. Joseph University
    • Game 3: No. 1 Mount St. Joseph vs No. 4 Manchester - 2:00 p.m.
    • Game 4: No. 2 Transylvania vs No. 6 Rose-Hulman - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 12 | Championship hosted at Mount St. Joseph University
    • Game 3 Winner vs Game 4 Winner - 1:00 p.m.

GAME NOTES: 
  • The Spartans are seeking their first HCAC Tournament title in program history. The Black and Gold advanced to the HCAC Semifinals for the first time since 2015 after sweeping Earlham in the opening round of the tournament on Wednesday night.
  • Manchester enters Saturday's match with an overall record of 17-9 and a conference record of 6-3.
  • The Lions are looking for their first HCAC Tournament title since 2012. Mount St. Joseph comes in at 23-1 on the season after claiming the regular season title for the first time since tying with Transylvania as regular season champions back in 2012. 
  • The Lions one loss on the season came from a five-set match against Otterbein University back on September 22.
  • Earlier this season, Mount St. Joseph defeated Manchester in three sets with set score of 25-20, 25-9, and 25-22. Jessica Tarr  and Avery Ball led the Black and Gold with seven kills apiece. Joy Maze contributed six kills and nine digs. Emma Tone had 10 assists on the afternoon, while Falyn McPeek had a team high five aces. Defensively, Carley Camp slowed the Lions attack with 3 total blocks and Tiffany Watterson had 11 digs.
  • Joy Maze is currently leading the Black and Gold and is second in the conference in kills this season with 333. Maze is averaging 3.47 kills per set. 
  • Emma Tone and Alexa Kouskousakis lead the Spartans with 382 assists and 265 assists so far this season. 
  • Falyn McPeek ranks second in the HCAC in service aces with 37 this fall.
  • First-year Tiffany Watterson has 429 digs on the season, good enough for fourth best in the HCAC. She is currently averaging 4.52 digs per set.
  • Carley Camp and Lily Lichtenbarger  rank fifth and sixth in the conference in blocks. Camp has collected 70 blocks with 16 solo blocks while Lichtenbarger has 71 blocks with 11 solo blocks
  • Emma Sicking leads the Lions and is ranked fourth in the conference with 285 kills on the season. Jasmine Butler has collected 878 assists, while Erin Androne has 39 service aces. Androne also leads in digs with 403. McKenzee Wagener (52) and Grace Young (49) lead the team in blocks.
