HOLLAND, Mich. - The Manchester men's basketball team fell on the road to the Flying Dutchmen of Hope College by a final score of 75-64 on Tuesday, November 14.
Hope shot 54% from the field and had 10 blocks as a team. The Flying Dutchmen narrowly
outrebounded Manchester 39-36, but the Spartans held a 9-6 advantage in steals with 15 points off turnovers.
Three Hope players scored in double figures, led by Tanner Wiegerink with 20 points, Gabe Quillan with 15 points, and Parker Hovey with 11 points.
Wiegerink also had a team-high seven blocks and 10 rebounds.
The Manchester offense featured 30 points from junior guard
Bryant Smith (West Lafayette, Ind., Harrison), and 17 points from
Logan Willoughby (Greenwood, Ind., Whiteland Community).
Zach Sawyer (Columbus, Ohio, Bishop Watterson) added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds and three steals for the Black and Gold.
Other key contributors included
Coy Hampton (Park Forest, Ill., Crete Monee) with seven rebounds and one block and
Mitch Mendenhall (New Haven, Ind., Woodlan) with five points and five rebounds.
Manchester moves to 1-1 overall on the young season. Up next, the Spartans will travel to Albion College on Tuesday, November 21 for a 7:00 p.m.
