Tourney Time: Volleyball Hosts Earlham for HCAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University women's volleyball team will host the Earlham College Quakers in the 2023 Heartland College Athletic Conference (HCAC) Volleyball Quarterfinal round on Wednesday, November 8. Wednesday night's match between the Spartans and Quakers will be held in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on the campus of Manchester University.

  • Wednesday, November 8 | Quarterfinals
    • Game 1: No. 6 Rose-Hulman at No. 3 Hanover
    • Game 2: No. 5 Earlham at No. 4 Manchester - 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 11 | Semifinals hosted at Mount St. Joseph University
    • Game 3: No. 1 Mount St. Joseph vs Game 2 Winner - 2:00 p.m.
    • Game 4: No. 2 Transylvania vs Game 1 Winner - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 12 | Championship hosted at Mount St. Joseph University
    • Game 3 Winner vs Game 4 Winner - 1:00 p.m.

DIRECTIONS:
  • Visitors to Manchester University can use 1305 N. East Street, North Manchester, IN 46962 to generate GPS navigation to drive to the PERC parking lot. 
  • Stauffer-Wolfe Arena is located inside the PERC (landmark 30) on the Manchester University campus map.

GAME NOTES: 
  • The Spartans are seeking their first HCAC Tournament title in program history. 
  • The Quakers are also seeking their first HCAC Tournament title.
  • The Black and Gold beat Earlham College in straight sets to open HCAC play on back on September 29, taking that match by set scores of 25-9, 25-22 and 25-23. That was the first time Manchester has swept the Quakers since the 2016 season. 
  • As a team, Manchester hit .202 with 35 kills. Earlham hit just .009 in their first matchup this season. Joy Maze led the Spartans with 11 kills. Avery Ball and Jessica Tarr added eight and six kills apiece. Emma Tone collected 14 assists on the night, while Alexa Kouskousakis had 11 assists. Defensively, Tiffany Watterson had a team high 16 digs for the Black and Gold. Carley Camp had three solo blocks while Lily Lichtenbarger added two solo blocks.
  • Joy Maze is leading the team and is second in the conference in kills this season with 320. 
  • Emma Tone and Alexa Kouskousakis lead the Spartans with 360 assists and 252 assists so far this season. 
  • First-year Tiffany Watterson has 413 digs and is averaging 4.49 digs per set, which ranks fifth in the conference.
  • Carley Camp and Lily Lichtenbarger  rank in the top-10 in the conference in blocks. Lichtenbarger has 70 blocks with 11 solo blocks, while Camp has 62 blocks with 15 solo blocks. 
  • Maria Young leads the Quakers with 239 kills on the season. Ava Walters has collected 559 assists, while Lauren Newcomer has 56 service aces. Newcomer also leads in digs with 342. Lily Virgili (53) and Gabby Gerardi (51) lead the team in blocks.
