CINCINNATTI, Ohio - The Manchester University women's basketball team was defeated by Mount St Joseph University 63-43 in its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, December 2.

The Lions' defense limited the Black and Gold to 11-47 shooting (23.04 percent) in Saturday's matchup. The Spartans were able to pull down 37 rebounds as a team and came away with 11 steals. 

Mount St. Joseph finished shooting 43.3% from the floor against the Black & Gold. The Loins were led by Karlee Mills with 14 points and five steals. Chloe Jansen also had five steals and nine points for Mount St. Joseph, while Madison Drummonds finished with seven rebounds.

Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic) led the Black and Gold with 11 points and four steals. The first-year guard also pulled down seven rebounds on Saturday. Madison Stamm (Fortville, Ind., Anderson Prep) added nine points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Maddi Smith (Kewanna, Ind., Caston) finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. 

Up next, Manchester women's basketball will travel to Bluffton University to continue HCAC play on Wednesday, December 6. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Bluffton, Ohio.
