WARSAW, Ind. - The Manchester men's tennis team took on the Franklin Grizzlies on Sunday, March 12 in Warsaw at the Eastlake Athletic Club. The Spartans dropped their second HCAC match of the spring season by a score of 8-1.
In doubles action,
Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind., South Putnam) and
Reece Romer (LaGrange, Ind., Lakeland) lost 3-8 at the no. 1 spot. At no. 2 doubles,
Brennan Beachy (Goshen, Ind., Westview) and
Eva Bazzoni (Wabash, Ind., Manchester) lost their match 1-8. Rounding out the doubles flight at the no. 3 position was
Aiden Richardson (Knightstown, Knightstown) and
Ryan Nastav (Lebanon, Ind., Lebanon), dropping their match 1-8.
In singles play,
Brennan Beachy picked up the Spartans' lone win of the day at no. 3 singles, defeating Layton Stieneker by a score of 6-4, 6-1. At no. 1 singles,
Austin Arnold fell to Dustin Garrison 0-6, 2-6. Following at no. 2 singles,
Reece Romer split sets with Owen Pickerill 0-6, 6-2 before falling in the third set 1-6. At no. 4 singles,
Aiden Richardson fell 1-6, 0-6. No. 5 singles followed with a loss by
Eva Bazzoni 0-6, 0-6. Wrapping up singles play was
Ryan Nastav, who fell to Shay Kyser 0-6, 3-6.
The loss brings the Spartans to 1-9 overall, 0-2 HCAC.
Next up for the Spartans is a break from conference action as the Spartans will travel to Angola, Ind. to take on the Trine Thunder on Thursday, March 16. Match time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
