ANDERSON, Ind. - The Spartan men's tennis team traveled to Anderson, Ind. on Saturday, March 11 to take on the Anderson Ravens to kick-off spring conference play. The Spartans dropped Saturday's contest by a score of 9-0.
The Spartans faced stout competition in all three doubles positions with scores of 2-8 at no. 1 doubles, 1-8 at no. 2 doubles, and a score of 2-8 at no. 3 doubles.
Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind., South Putnam) led the Spartans at no. 1 singles dropping a tough match with a score of 2-6, 3-6. At no. 2 singles,
Reece Romer (LaGrange, Ind., Lakeland) fell 0-6, 0-6 to Chakib Madcur.
Brennan Beachy (Goshen, Ind., Westview) fought hard, falling 1-6, 3-6 to his opponent, Cory Evans. At no. 4 singles,
Braydon Hoggatt (Union City, Ind., Union City) fell 2-6, 0-6.
Omar Lemus (Portage, Ind., Portage) dropped his match at no. 5 singles 0-6, 0-6 to Sam Songer. Wrapping up the singles competition at no. 6 singles,
Aiden Richardson (Knightstown, Knightstown) lost to Brant Brouillette 0-6, 1-6.
Manchester falls to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in the HCAC with Saturday's loss. The men's team turned around on Sunday, March 12 to play the Franklin Grizzlies in their second HCAC matchup for the spring 2023 season.
