Manchester Picked to Finish Third in HCAC Preseason Poll

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the results of the Women's Outdoor Track and Field preseason poll on Friday, March 17. 

2023 HCAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology picked to claim the title in 2023 in a vote among league coaches. The Fightin' Engineers are coming off a 2023 HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship title and picked up nine first-place votes in route to 81 points. Hanover College finished in second with 72 points. 

The Spartans were picked to finish in third with 66 votes. Franklin College (57) took fourth and Mount St. Joseph University (48) finished in fifth to round out the top-five.

Five Spartans were named "Athletes to Watch" by the league office on Friday. The list includes sophomore thrower
Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport). Hannah Brubaker (Goshen, Ind., NorthWood), Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind., Carroll), Brooke Bouwens (Lake Odessa, Mich., Lakewood), Adelle Stanko (Okemos, Mich., Okemos) were also selected as "Athletes to Watch" this season. 

The outdoor track and field season was scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 18 at the Early Bird Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman, but due to weather conditions, that meet has been cancelled. The Spartans will now begin the 2023 outdoor season on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1.
