Spartans Fall to Thunder in Extra Innings on Tuesday

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester baseball team fell to the Trine Thunder in a single non-conference matchup on Gratz Field on Tuesday, March 21. Trine took Tuesday's game by a final score of 13-10 in 11 innings. 

SPARTAN STATS
  • The Spartans scored first on Tuesday afternoon, thanks to a two-run homerun by Harrison Pittsford (Ellettsville, Ind., Edgewood) in the bottom of the first inning. Pittsford went 2-4 from the plate with two walks and two RBI. 
  • Three other Spartans hit home runs during Tuesday's game, including Cole Filson (Plymouth, Ind., Plymouth) and Jared Holley (Wabash, Ind., Wabash). 
  • Aidan Stevens (Rensselaer, Ind., Rensselaer Central) hit back-to-back homeruns in the sixth and eight innings to cut Trine's lead to one run. 
  • Brady Perez (Rochester, Ind., Rochester) hit a sac-fly to right field to score Zach White (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game 10-10. 
  • Blake Lynch (Libertyville, Ill., Libertyville) pitched five innings in relief for the Black and Gold. Lynch gave up four hits and two runs while striking out three batters. 
UP NEXT 
  • Manchester will host Calvin for a doubleheader on Gratz Field on Wednesday, March 22. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
