CLERMONT, Fla. - The Manchester University softball team concluded a strong week of play down in Florida on Friday, March 24.
Returning to Florida for the Spring Games, the Black & Gold collected six victories in 10 games, including three straight wins to end their trip.
The Spartans opened its trip with a split against Washington & Jefferson (Pennsylvania) and Trinity College (Connecticut) Sunday, March 19. The Spartans fell to Washington & Jefferson 7-4 before defeating Trinity 9-7.
On Tuesday, March 21, Manchester faced Bowdoin College (Maine) and Lawrence University (Wisconsin), dropping game one against the Polar Bears 11-6. The Spartans bounced back to take their second game of the day against Lawrence 8-0.
On Wednesday, the Black and Gold defeated Middlebury College (Vermont) 8-7 before falling to Gustavus Adolphus (Minnesota) 6-3.
Following an off day on Wednesday, the Spartans suffered a narrow defeat to Colby College 3-2 on Thursday, March 23. The Black & Gold got hot towards the end of their trip, earning three straight victories to conclude play in the Sunshine State. Manchester started its winning streak with an 8-5 victory over Union College (New York) on Thursday. The Spartans then picked up two more wins on Friday, March 24. Manchester opened the day with a 3-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. MU would then follow with a 11-7 triumph over Elmhurst University (Illinois) to round out their trip.
The Spartans (8-4) will return to Indiana this week and are scheduled to host Adrian College for a non-conference doubleheader at the MU Softball Field on Wednesday, March 29 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
