Track and Field Competes in Final Tune Up Before HCAC Championships

ADA, Ohio - The Manchester University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams compete at the Mike Becraft Invite hosted by Ohio Northern on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22. 

The women's team finished the weekend in fourth place with 59 team points. On the men's side, the Spartans took fifth with 65 team points. 
 

Ben Villafuerte (Angola, Ind., Angola) brought home second place in the shot put with a throw of 15.49m. Villafuerte also finished the discus in seventh place with a distance of 40.04m. He also took ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.74m, a new PR and Manchester top-10 mark.
 

Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) threw 44.02m in the hammer throw to take first place. Camp also took home second place in the shot put with a mark of 12.39m and third place in discus with a distance of 39.30m. That toss of 39.30m is a PR for the sophomore and a new Manchester top-10 mark. 
  

Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind., Carroll) finished the 1500m run with a time of 4:53.66, good enough for second place and a new Manchester top-10 mark. 
 

Gabe Melvin (Jacksonville, Fla., Atlantic Coast) ran the 100m dash, crossing the finish line in fourth place with a time of 10.89, tying his lifetime personal best and #4 all-time mark in school history.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Gentry Oliver (Lafayette, Ind., McCutcheon) finished the long jump in fourth place with a mark of 6.17m.
  • Trevor Getts (Corunna, Ind., DeKalb) competed in the men's pole vault, finishing the event in fifth place with a mark of 3.00m. 
  • Quentin Willis (Athens, Ga., Oglethorpe) finished the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.32, good enough for fourth place. 
  • Tristen Bronaugh (Crawfordsville, Ind., Crawfordsville) finished the men's 200m in fifth place in a time of 22.47. 
  • The men's 4x100m relay team consisting of Quentin WillisTristen Bronaugh, Gabe Melvin, and Duriel Moss Jr. took home third place with a time of 43.06. 
  • Brooke Bouwens (Lake Odessa, Mich., Lakewood) competed in the 100m hurdles, taking home fourth place with a time of 16.07. Bouwens also took sixth in the women's long jump with a mark of 4.55m. 
  • Adelle Stanko (Okemos, Mich., Okemos) took third in the triple jump with a distance of 10.37m. Stanko also took seventh in the women's 200m with a time of 27.92.

  • The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 at Franklin College.
