FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Manchester University outdoor track and field teams compiled a phenomenal effort at the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship on April 28 - 29 on the campus of Franklin College.
On the men's side, the Spartans captured a second-place team finish on Saturday with 157 team points. The women's team also took second place with 163.5 team points.
Manchester senior
Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind., Plymouth) was named HCAC Distance Athlete of the Year.
Salazar earned three event wins on Friday and Saturday, taking first in the 1500m (4:03.24), the 5,000m run (15:14.71), and the 10,000m run (39:04.08).
On the women's side,
Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind., Carroll) dominant performances on the weekend resulted in
Lohman being named the HCAC Distance Athlete of the Year in back-to-back campaigns.
Lohman also took home three event wins at the 2023 HCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. She took first in the 3,000m steeplechase (12:21.20), the 5,000m run (19:08.99), and the 1500m run (4:54.38).
The Black and Gold finished the weekend with nine individual HCAC crowns, 25 podium finishes (top 3), and 60 point scoring performances (top 8).
