FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Manchester men's tennis team took on the University of St. Francis at the Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne on Tuesday, April 4. The Cougars took the match by a final score of 9-0.
In doubles play, the no. 1 doubles pair of
Austin Arnold (Coatesville, Ind., South Putnam) and
Reece Romer (LaGrange, Ind., Lakeland) fell 8-4. At no. 2 doubles,
Brennan Beachy (Goshen, Ind., Westview) and
Braydon Hoggatt (Union City, Ind., Union City) were defeated by their opponents 8-4. The no. 3 team of
Aiden Richardson (Knightstown, Knightstown) and
Omar Lemus (Portage, Ind., Portage) fell 8-2.
Arnold dropped his no. 1 singles match to Alfredo Huamami 6-3, 6-4.
Romer fell at the no. 2 position by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
Beachy dropped a hard fought match at no. 3 singles with a score of 7-6 (4), 6-3. At no. 4 singles,
Hoggatt fell 6-1, 6-1.
Lemus was defeated at no. 5 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Rounding out singles play at the no. 6 spot was
Richardson, who fell by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
The Spartans will next travel to Hanover to take on the Panthers on Saturday, April 8. Match time is set for 12:00 p.m.
