TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Manchester University softball team earned a sweep of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Rose-Hulman on Saturday, April 8.
The Spartans improved to 14-8, 3-1 in HCAC play following 8-5 and 10-4 victories over the Fightin' Engineers.
SPARTAN STATS
- Manchester jumped out to a 4-1 lead after four innings in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. The Spartans would score four more runs in the top of the sixth inning in route to a 8-5 victory over the Fightin' Engineers. Two RBI singles by JG and ES highlighted the sixth inning for the Black and Gold.
- Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind., Chesterton) earned her eighth win of the season on the mound for MU. Carr gave up 12 hits while striking out four batters in 7 innings pitched.
- The Spartan bats stayed hot in game two against Rose-Hulman. Manchester got out to an early lead, scoring five runs in four innings. The Black and Gold would score another five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the 10-4 win and HCAC sweep.
- Sabrina Leonard (Fillmore, Ind. , South Putnam) hit her second collegiate homerun during game two of Saturday's doubleheader. On the day, Leonard went 3-7 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk.
- Julianne Gosnell (Amboy, Ind., Oak Hill) picked up her third win in the circle for Manchester, allowing eight hits with two strikeouts in seven innings of work.
- Sophomore Brianna Morrow (Atlanta, Ill., Olympia) had a successful day at the plate for Manchester, hitting .600 on the day with three runs scored, two RBI, and a walk.

- The Black and Gold will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on the Kalamazoo Hornets in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, April 13.
