CARMEL, Ind. - Three Spartans earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (
HCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday, May 15.
HCAC 2023 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Notebook, Week 7
Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind., Plymouth) was named
HCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this outdoor season.
Salazar competed in the 1,500m at the St. Francis Last Chance Qualifier in
Joliet, Ill. over the weekend. He took first in the event in a time of 3:53.70 and breaking the Manchester school record previously held by Salazar by .04 seconds.
Ben Villafuerte (Angola, Ind., Angola) earned
HCAC Male Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this outdoor season on Monday.
Villafuerte competed at the Grand Valley State Last Chance Meet last week, where he finished the day with a new PR in the shot put with a mark of 15.89m. His mark of 15.89m ranks second all-time in school history.
Manchester sophomore
Carley Camp (Logansport, Ind., Logansport) garnered
HCAC Female Field Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this outdoor season. Camp also competed at the Grand Valley State Last Chance Meet last week where she took second in the shot put with a distance of 13.83m, breaking the Manchester school record previously held by Camp.
A select number of Manchester University outdoor track and field athletes will compete at the Mount Union Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday, May 18.
