ANDERSON, Ind. - The Manchester women's basketball team dropped a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC)
matchup on the road against Anderson University by a final score of 78-58 on Wednesday, January 10.
The Spartans and Ravens battled back-and-forth in the opening seven minutes of action. Anderson would take a seven-point lead with just two minutes left on the clock in the first quarter. The Spartans cut the Ravens' lead to just three points entering the second quarter, but the Ravens would hang on for a 48-32 lead at the half. Manchester rallied to cut the Ravens' lead to just one point with less than eight minutes on the clock in the third quarter of Wednesday night's game. Anderson would pull away in the rest of the second half to take Wednesday's game 78-58.
Manchester shot 22-50 (44%) from the field during Wednesday night's contest. The Spartans also pulled down 26 rebounds and nine steals as a team.
The Ravens finished with 31-66 shooting (49.2%) in the contest. Four of Anderson's players managed to reach double digit points, including Sarah Sewak who had 19 points and 5 rebounds. Sewak led in both categories for the Ravens as they improve to 7-7, 3-4 HCAC.
Madison Stamm (Fortville, Ind., Anderson Prep) led the Black and Gold with 17 points while also shooting 4-7 from beyond the three-point arc.
Hailee Kline (Huntington, Ind., Blackhawk Christian) followed with 11 points, while
Maddi Smith (Kewanna, Ind., Caston) finished the night with eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. First-year
Kinsey Atkins (Warsaw, Ind., Triton) dished out five assists and
Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic) had three steals.
Up next, Manchester women's basketball will next travel to Richmond, Ind. to face the
Earlham Quakers on January 13. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
