NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - Rose-Hulman used a strong second half to rally past Manchester University by a final score of 73-70 in men's basketball action Wednesday, January 17.
The Spartans shot 50.0% from the field and 46.15% from three-point range en route to a 45-31 lead at halftime on Wednesday night. Rose-Hulman put together a 16-4 run to tie the game at 62 apiece with just under six minutes remaining in the second half. The
Fightin' Engineers managed to pull ahead 70-64 with three minutes left on the clock.
Rose-Hulman would rely on free throws to help secure the 73-70 comeback win.
The Spartans were led by
Mitch Mendenhall (New Haven, Ind., Woodlan) with his first career double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds. The senior forward shot 5-9 from three-point range and also had three steals.
Austin Willoughby (Greenwood, Ind., Whiteland Community) also scored in double digits, finishing with 10 points on Wednesday night.
Coy Hampton (Park Forest, Ill., Crete Monee) and
Blake Shewmaker (Bargersville, Greenwood Christian Academy) contributed eight points each.
Hampton also had three steals and seven rebounds. Manchester is now 9-7,6-3 HCAC.
Up next, Manchester will host Mount St. Joseph University for an HCAC men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Saturday, January 20.
