NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester women's basketball team fell in their home matchup against the Mount St. Joseph Lions with a final score of 57-47 on Saturday, January 20.

The Spartans and Lions battled back-and-forth in the opening quarter of Saturday afternoon's contest. The score was tied 15-15 entering in to the second quarter. Manchester outscored Mount St. Joseph 14-9 to take a five-point lead at the half. 

The Lions held the Spartans to six points in the third quarter as they took a 42-35 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Mount St. Joseph would hang on to take Saturday's game 57-47 to improve to 14-2, 8-2 HCAC. 

As a team, Manchester shot 36.6% (15-41) from the floor. Madison Stamm (Fortville, Ind., Anderson Prep) led the Black and Gold with 14 points followed by Hailee Kline (Huntington, Ind., Blackhawk Christian) with 12 points. Abigail Rosenkrans (Pendleton, Ind., Pendleton Heights) pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, followed by Maddi Smith (Kewanna, Ind., Caston) with eight rebounds on Saturday afternoon. Manchester is now 5-12 on the season and 2-8 in conference play. 

Manchester women's basketball will look ahead to play their next matchup against Rose-Hulman at home on January 24. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
