NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 73-63 victory over
Earlham College on Saturday, January 27 in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Manchester honored its five seniors
Peyton Horn (Crown Point, Ind., Andrean), Delayne Sanchez (Osceola, Ind., Penn), Madison Stamm (Fortville, Ind., Anderson Prep), Alyssa Pfeil (Goshen, Ind., Concord Community), and
Jamya Clay (Indianapolis, Ind., Providence Cristo Rey) during an on-court ceremony prior to the start of Saturday's contest.
Earlham jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the opening three minutes of play. The Spartans answered with 10
straight points to the tie the game with 4:13 on the clock. The Black and Gold took a 16-15 lead going into the second quarter. Manchester outscored
Earlham 26-13 in the second quarter to take a 42-28 lead at the half.
The Spartans maintained a double-digit lead at the end of the third quarter.
Earlham put together a 12-2 run to bring them within two-points at the 6:39 mark in the fourth quarter. Manchester would again answer, stopping the Quaker's comeback to take a 10-point lead with 22 seconds left to play to secure the 73-63 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester improved to 6-13 on the season and 3-9 in conference play, while
Earlham dropped to 4-13 and 2-10 in HCAC play.
As a team, Manchester shot 42.4% from the floor and 38.5% from three-point range.
Hailee Kline (Huntington, Ind., Blackhawk Christian) led the Black and Gold with 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Stamm finished the afternoon with 18 points, while
Kendal Rider (Otterbein, Ind., Lafayette Central Catholic) added 10 points and three steals. Other key contributors includes
Maddi Smith (Kewanna, Ind., Caston) with seven points and
Pfeil with six rebounds.
